Friday 5: Mary Patout

You may recognize her from the Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm. What you may not know is that Mary Patout, the woman behind Mary Mary Markets, also supplies greens, vegetables and condiments to some of your favorite Lafayette restaurants. Get to know Mary in this week's Friday 5.

1. Special Occasions - Village Cafe in River Ranch.  Chef Jeremy and staff absolutely delight in putting personal touches to their already perfect celebration table.  I love knowing that they share their joy with us from the kitchen.  I love knowing that we can barge into the restaurant wearing my best hoodie day or night and be comfortable in elegance.

2. Neighborhood Hangout - Lafayette Farmers and Artisans Market at the Horse Farm!  What??!  What kind of question is that!?

3. Introducing Lafayette to Out-of-Towners - Jefferson Island.  My husband, Roy, did some reconstruction there when he was knee high to a grasshopper.  The landscaping, the greenhouses, the cafe and pristine views, the history of the swallowed up lake--all contribute to this place being a personal all-around favorite.

4. Family Dining - Social Southern Table & Bar.  Roy loves the beer selection and always acts like he can't remember what he tried the last week--therefore is served another sample.  We enjoy spending time where everybody knows your name--where it always feels as though that dish was made only for you and no one else.

5. Date Night - Bread & Circus Provisions.  It's like an open air market/restaurant from a Van Gogh painting complete with cozy tables, suspended smoky meats and bustling staff.  Chef Manny's "more than comfort" foods are gifts for the soul!
